Just returned from our second stay at Kingfishers and we were delighted that the experience was as wonderful as the first. Charlie and Clinton have created a friendly and fun environment, and they along with their first class staff made sure that we had the best stay. They arranged a lovely overnight stay at Bintang Bolong which is a beautiful peaceful place where my husband spent the day fishing and I just enjoyed the scenery! We also had a great day on a boat meandering on the River Gambia looking at all the birdlife. The evenings can be as sociable as you want so if you would like to join in on the barbecue nights or just sit and enjoy a drink and watch the world go by, the choice is yours and you never feel under any pressure. We will definitely be returning along with many of the other guests who booked again before they left. Amazing find at the end of a gorgeous day. Meandering back to our apartments after a lovely lazy day on the beach we passed a local football game that my husband and son wanted to watch, as we stopped we noticed a beautifully kept apartment complex with people sat in the sunshine outside. We asked if we were able to get a drink and although we were not apartment guests they happily pulled up a table and chairs for us. One of the best decisions all holiday, spent a lovely hour or so chatting to Clinton and Charlie whilst watching the football, they were fantastic with us and our son and such a friendly atmosphere. They even gave us a little tour of the apartments. They are beautiful, a lovely small complex with four apartments and 2 pools in a beautiful setting. Everything was immaculate and very well looked after and the staff friendly and helpful. Sadly for us they do have a no under 16 policy and as we have a little one we will not be able to stay next year but this will not stop me from recommending Kingfisher Apartments to everyone else. This is a great find in a good location and I have no doubt that anyone that stays here will come back again and again. Thank you Charlie and Clinton for such a wonderful welcome. I guess one of the best ways to judge if a person liked their accommodation is to ask them if they would stay there again; would I stay at Kingfishers again? Absolutely, in a heartbeat; in fact, I’ve already booked for next year!Kingfishers is in a quiet area at the end of short sandy road off the main Senegambia highway, 2.3Km from “The Strip”, the main busy, noisy tourist area and 700m to the beach. There are a few restaurants, hotels and bars within walking distance or jump in a taxi and then there is a much larger choice of places to eat. You could, or course, cook for yourself but I only ever eat breakfast in my room and ate out for all other meals. With only 4 self-catering apartments, Kingfishers is never going to be busy or crowded. There is a friendly atmosphere to the place; the owners Clinton and Charlie and even other guests staying there made me feel so welcome. Sometimes there was an event laid on in the evening, a quiz, group meal, etc but you were under no pressure to attend but I had lots of fun when I did. I was a bit gutted that I missed out on a lazy river cruise trip that they had arranged for the day after I left.My apartment had a kitchen/dining/living room, bedroom and separate bathroom and a porch outside with table and chairs. The kitchen had a hob with 3 gas burners, a microwave, fridge, toaster and a basic set of kitchen utensils. The kettle was a use-on-the-hob type, handy if there is a power cut and it was not one of times that the generator was running; at least you could still easily make a hot drink. The living/dining room area had a small dining table with two chairs, two relaxing chairs and a flat-screen TV.The bathroom had a loo, basin and shower and bedroom had a very comfortable king size bed, two sets of drawers which also double up as bedside tables, a ceiling fan and an air-conditioning unit that I never used. I later found out that all the A/C units had actually been decommissioned because they would overload the generator, but I found the fan fine anyway. The wardrobe was in the hallway which also contained an electronic safe that was bolted to the wall.Outside there was a courtyard area with chairs, sunbeds and a plunge pool and around the back of the apartments was another courtyard area with a larger pool and more sunbeds, umbrellas and tables – there’s going to be no need to get up early in the morning to lay-claim to a sunbed; there are plenty to go around!Just inside the entrance to Kingfishers there is reception and also a seating area with tables; this is the only place where non-residents are allowed. There is also a “bar” with a small selection of drinks – basically you ask one of the friendly staff members to go and get you a drink from owner/staff only area of Kingfishers and they will add the cost to your tab.I don’t think Kingfishers will be for everyone – for example if you like to be pampered, with waiters hovering around to take your drinks or food orders, enjoy getting up early to stake a claim by the pool and eating breakfast early otherwise there are no tables or food left, expect music and dancing entertainment to be laid on each night then you might want to consider looking elsewhere. Kingfishers is for people aged 16+ who are after peace and relaxation while in the comfortable accommodation and head out if they want to explore or enjoy the beach or have a meal out or go in search of more noisy evening entertainment. If you fall into the latter category, what are you waiting for? Book now! Gary H
We couldn't have asked for better accommodation that suited our needs. From the moment we arrived Charlie and Clinton where very hospitable and made us feel welcome. It's a little oasis on a sandy Street. The apartment was good and very clean. The beds where comfortable and I was surprised how good the WiFi was! The boys who work there couldn't do enough for you. One of the nights they hosted a burger and karaoke evening which was great fun. During the day we went to Sun bird on the beach about 10min walk and used there sunbeds highly recommend. Taxi to main tourist area easy to get to for 100d. We would definitely recommend kingfisher and will be returning again. Stephen

Collins English dictionary.Definition of perfect.Having all the required or desirable elements or characteristics. As good as it is possible to be.That just about sums it up but we will break down our feelings as follows.Accommodation. To a very high standard spotlessly clean and maintained to a higher standard than many boutique and 5 star hotels.Owners and managers. Clinton and Charlie make a superb team there leadership and commitment are faultless yet they are still approachable and create a family atmosphere. Nothing is to much for them from changing money and negotiating best rates on your behalf to organising entertainment.trips general information or support they are there for you.Saikuba. The night watchman greets you with a big cheesy grin. Well respected in the community he is a great source of information and accompanied by the owners 3 dogs gives you a great feeling of security.Amadou and Tom. 2 of the nicest boys you could meet .Dedicated to there work they are fun and approachable yet unimposeingnothing is to much for them and again they create that unique family atmosphere.Facilities. You have 3 sitting areas.a courtyard within the appartment area complete wth sun beds chairs and a plunge pool to chill in. A large pool to the rear of the property again with chairs and beds situated in both sunny and shaded areas and surrounded by a well planted colourful garden that attracts the beautiful coloured birds and completes your feeling of tranquillity and peace. To the front of the property is an enclosed courtyard by night the doors are closed and it becomes the social and entertainment hub and by day the doors are left open and you can sit and simply watch the world go by with some banter from the locals and the occasional lady banana or peanut seller callimg in.The wifi is the best you will get in the Gambia and there is a well equiped bar and Charlie keeps vital supplies you may need. There are several supermarkets and chemists available in the area if you wish to stock up on goods and good resteraunts and a takeaway within walking distance where they average meal with a drink will cost about £5 per head.Kingfishers has a very central location out of the hussle and bustle and a great base to explore Gambia from.Entertainment. Chalie and Clinton are great entertainers and try to run something 3 out of 7 days either karaoke. Quize night.games night an organied trip or if your lucky enough Cinton will cook a meal from his varied and very nice menu of culinary delights. He is also an avid fisherman so if thats your forte hes your man.In summary then you wont get much better we are not newbies and have been going to Gambia for 11 years and are so pleased we dicovered this little gem.You will meet some interesting and great people when you stay here who will all be happy to share there vast knowledge of the country with you.Happy travelsLove Sean and Del -×-Ps look at all the pictures and photo's as a guidline as no image can ever depict the quality of this establishment.
This was our 2nd stay at Kingfishers, this time for 6 weeks. If anything it was better than last time, but only because we had 6 weeks, rather than 3. 😎 Charlie and Clinton are the best hosts and will socialise as much or as little as their guests want. The apartments are cleaned every day and bedding and towels changes twice per week. Pools are kept very clean all the time.As far as security goes, this must be one of the most secure places in The Gambia, with 24/7 guard, and no-one who is not a guest allowed past reception. So peaceful and NO BUMSTERS.We have to name the 3 brilliant staff, Amadou, Tom and Saikuba. You are the greatest team guys, keep it up. ❤, and your sense of humour is up to scratch too. 😂Of course there are also the 3 lovely dogs, Jasper, Ranger and Delassie. We will be back to feed you biscuits for 6 weeks again next year.Would we recommend Kingfishers? Of course we would ---- so long as you don't want to book the last available apartment at the same time as us, and get it ahead of us! Lol.Charlie, Clinton, Amadou, Tom and Saikuba, as well as the dogs, Thank you a million times for everything, we look forward to doing it all again next year. Xx Andy and rosemary, Scotland
We visited Gambia for the first time at the end of November. The friends we travelled with had visited Kingfishers before so our expectations were high - Charlie and Clinton did not disappoint. They are wonderful hosts that tailor their service to the customers staying at the time. It is the personal touch that makes your stay so much more enjoyable. Great facilities, clean, well equipped and spacious (even staying in one of the ‘smaller’ apartments). The two available pool areas are excellent and well maintained.Nothing is ever too much trouble and customer service is second to none. It was lovely to meet Charlie, Clinton, Tom, Amadou, and Sakuba. I’m pretty confident we’ll be returning as soon as we can! Stacey and Stephen,
